Team: Huntress Security Awareness Training (SAT)
Product: Huntress SAT
Environment: SAT Admin Portal
Summary: Managed SAT offers four methods for authenticating Learners: Access Code, Magic Link, Pre-configured OAuth Providers, and SAML Single Sign-on. This article offers an overview of each authentication method and explains how to customize group settings to your preferred option.
Authentication Types
Access Code
The Access Code is a unique, alphanumeric code that is assigned to a specific Group and shared by all Learners within that Group. Learners must retrieve this code from their SAT notification email and navigate to the mycurricula.com platform. To access their training, they then enter the Access Code into the designated line, immediately followed by their individual Learner email address, to get to their next fun security awareness training episode.
Magic Link
The standard (or default) authentication method for SAT Learner Groups is the Magic Link. This method eliminates the need for Learners to use an Access Code to log in to the training platform. When enabled, Learners will receive unique, single-use URLs in their training notification emails. They can click or copy and paste this link into their browser to instantly access their training. These links remain active for one week after the notification is delivered. If Learners cannot get to the training in that first week, they can request a new Magic Link by clicking on the expired link and re-entering their email address. An email notification with a new Magic Link will be sent to their inbox immediately.
Pre-configured OAuth Providers
Pre-configured OAuth Providers allows Learners to log in instantly using their existing credentials from a pre-approved provider. SAT currently supports direct login for Google and Microsoft. This option is designed for simplicity and speed, offering a seamless, one-click access experience. It's important to note that Pre-configured OAuth Providers is a simpler authentication method that does not provide the centralized user control and advanced provisioning capabilities found with SAML SSO.
SAML Single Sign-on (SSO)
SAML SSO is the authentication method that centralizes identity management, allowing Learners to access the training platform simply by being logged in to their work accounts. SAML SSO is distinct from Pre-configured OAuth Providers. SAML requires connecting to a dedicated Identity Provider (IdP) for centralized control and management. SAT currently offers SSO for customers using Okta, Google, Microsoft, and OneLogin.
