Who is this KB for? Administrators who have out-of-date EDR agents
Key Steps:
1. Uninstall the agent.
2. Reboot the Endpoint.
3. Confirm the endpoint is removed from the Huntress Dashboard.
4. Reinstall Huntress via your preferred method.
Step by Step:
- Uninstall Huntress using the following guide.
2. Reboot the endpoint(s). This will ensure the Rio agent is fully uninstalled. This also ensures that the MSI Library is cleared out, allowing a fresh version of Huntress to be installed without interruption.
3. Confirm the endpoint no longer exists in the Huntress portal, and the services are removed from the endpoint. Double-check for the Huntress Rio Agent service before proceeding to step 4.
4. Install the Huntress agent using any method from the list below:
Manual Installation from the GUI
Silent Install from a Script or Command Line
Deploy via RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management)
Deploy via PowerShell (Including GPO)
This applies to all of the following scenarios:
- I tried to update the Huntress EDR (Rio) agent by running the HuntressUpdater.exe and got an error.
- My EDR (Rio) agent is under version 0.7.32
- I tried uninstalling from the portal but the Rio agent never uninstalled. (make sure you reboot post uninstall)
