Team: Huntress EDR, SIEM, and ITDR (for hybrid environments)
Environment: Windows, macOS, and Linux End of Life products
Summary: End of Support, "best effort", or limited support for EOL operating systems.
see also: Supported Operating Systems / System Requirements
Overview
Occasionally, Huntress will need to end or reduce support for specific operating systems that have reached the end of their own lifecycle. Doing this allows Huntress to remain inline with industry best practices, evolve trade craft to match the changing threat landscape, and stay up-to-date with underlying technologies that support our agent. As we evolve forward, this becomes an important step to ensuring we can continue introducing newer features and functionality within our agent and the Huntress Security Platform.
What will happen:
End of Support: When Huntress End-of-Support is reached for any Operating System, Huntress will allow partners to continue running those agents but will no longer provide product support. These agents will not receive any additional upgrades, security patches, or new features. In addition, Huntress Security Operation Center investigation services will be significantly reduced and not guaranteed.
End of Life: For OS that are far past their End-of-Life but not at Huntress End-of-Support, Huntress will make a "best effort" to provide support but there are no guarantees compatibility will persist as the Huntress agent and 3rd party code bases evolve. Additionally, Huntress Security Operation Center investigation services will be significantly reduced and not guaranteed. Due to the fluid nature of the security landscape, evolving threat actor tactics, 3rd party code base changes, and OS limitations Huntress reserves the right to change this list at any time with no warning for any OS that is no longer supported by it's owner.
The only way to ensure full support, protection, and features from Huntress is to maintain an OS version that is still supported by the OS vendor.
Red = End of Support, Yellow = "best effort" support, White = fully supported

* - Huntress Product Support and Engineering teams will do their best to assist, but tickets will be set as a reduced priority during periods of high ticket volume. Since modern Microsoft libraries and 3rd party code base compatibility will be missing from EOL OS, a fix will not be possible in some cases. It's in your best interest to get every machine updated to an OS that's still getting security updates from Microsoft.
