Backup Codes
When you enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Huntress account, the platform generates a set of unique backup codes. These codes let you access your account if you lose access to your 2FA device.
You are prompted to save your backup codes during setup. Store them in a secure location, such as a password manager. You must confirm by clicking I've saved these backup codes before completing setup.
Backup codes are single-use. They cannot be used again.
Sending the Recovery Link
If you lose your 2FA device and do not have your backup codes, an account administrator can send you a recovery link. This link allows you to reset your two-factor authentication and regain access.
Resellers cannot reset MFA for their customers. Please contact Huntress Support for assistance.
- Log in to the Huntress Platform as an account administrator.

Navigate to the Users page in the top menu. Alternatively, select the menu (three lines) in the upper-right corner and select Users.
- Find the locked-out user in the list.

Click the life ring icon under the 2FA column for that user.

In the confirmation box, click Email Recovery Link. The user will receive instructions by email to reset their two-factor authentication.
If you are the only administrator and have lost both your 2FA device and backup codes, contact Huntress Support. You will need to verify your identity to regain access. This process may cause delays.
Resetting 2FA
When a recovery link is used, your previous 2FA method is disabled. You must set up 2FA again to secure your account. If you do not re-enable 2FA, you will need to use a backup code each time you log in.
