Environment: ConnectWise ScreenConnect, ConnectWise Automate, and ConnectWise RMM
Summary: Advisory on the update to the ConnectWise ScreenConnect, Automate, and RMM digital signing certificates.
An advisory was released asking partner to update their instances of ConnectWise ScreenConnect, ConnectWise Automate, and ConnectWise RMM by June 13th, 2025. For questions related to the event, please reach out to ConnectWise support directly.
What's Going on?
ConnectWise released notification and sent emails to partners detailing a need for Code Signing Certificate rotation for three of their products; ConnectWise ScreenConnect, ConnectWise Automate, and ConnectWise RMM. This was noted as a result of concerns raised by a third-party researcher, however, they have stated in their advisory that "This issue does not involve a compromise of our systems or certificate" but is instead to "improve how [certain] configuration data is managed in ScreenConnect."
In response to this request, ConnectWise will be issuing new signing certificates, and releasing updates to their platforms. These improvements were already planned to be released, but have now been released on an accelerated timeline due to these recent requirements.
What's the Timeline?
Documentation was originally posted June 9th, 2025 with an expected update date of Tuesday, June 10th. As of June 10th, the deadline for the update has been pushed to Friday, June 13th at 8:00 PM ET.
What do I need to do?
Following the advisory and partner email communications is key to ensure you have completed all guidance per ConnectWise. While your directed focus at this time is to ensure you are running the most recent version of each tools by Friday, June 13 at 8:00 PM ET., the complete directions and links to updates can be found in the June 9th, 2025 advisory page and in your ConnectWise University page. Impact on Huntress
The Huntress Agent services are not impacted by this change, however, Huntress's support, and internal product and engineering teams have all been made aware of the pending signing certificate changes so we can monitor for potential false positives as the updates occur. We will also be monitoring for possible false positive detections for partners using Microsoft Defender Antivirus to attempt to mitigate potential issues should they arise.
For partners using the ConnectWise RMM, to deploy Huntress, or ConnectWise Automate for creating tickets from Huntress, please monitor these post update to ensure continued communication.
For Huntress specific questions, please don't hesitate to contact our Support team or your Huntress account manager.
