Huntress Managed Antivirus can now be used to manage Microsoft Defender Antivirus policies on Windows 10 Home and Windows 11 Home endpoints. Endpoints on Windows 8.1 or earlier OS versions will still be considered Incompatible by Huntress MAV.
The new support for Windows Home requires the Huntress agent to be updated to version 0.13.24 or higher to be compatible. After updating the endpoint to 0.13.24, you'll have to wait ~15 minutes for the agent to report the changes back to Huntress for the endpoint to become compatible. If the agent hasn’t been updated to meet this requirement, the health substatus of the Home endpoint will show as ‘Agent version must be 0.13.24 or higher’ until the agent is updated.
Once the agent is updated, Windows Home endpoints will stop showing as ‘Incompatible’ in the Huntress Managed Antivirus dashboard and will change to either ‘Protected’, ‘Unhealthy’, or ‘Unmanaged’ based on the current status of the Home endpoint’s Defender configuration.
All Windows Home endpoints will be set to Inherit at the host level. Then it will inherit the Enforce/Audit setting based on the corresponding Account/Org settings. Reference this article for how Inheritance works with Huntress Managed Antivirus.
